On Sunday evening, May 20, at 6:30 p.m.,
we will share a “Hymn Sing” in our Sanctuary.
This is the opportunity to sing
any of YOUR FAVORITES
from our hymnal
or to try something new … your choice!!
Light refreshments will be shared
following about an hour of singing.
Mark your calendar
and plan to share in
the joy of congregational song!
In this season of Easter, as we share the bounty of beauty and goodness we cherish in our congregation, and, liturgically, as we prepare for “Pentecost-al” flames to rest upon us anew, remember why we "burn". May we all be inspired and compelled, each in our own way, to kindle a candle or carry a torch. As we sang on Easter morning, so may we live: The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad … For Christ, the Lord, is risen. Our joy that hath no end.
Grace and peace to you (and to all whom we serve), Seth
The Reverend Dr. Seth Weeldreyer
Pastor
It is with no small lament that we announce our church doors (including the parking lot entrance) will be locked throughout business hours beginning Monday, May 7. We seek to address responsibly the realities of our time and place, including a spate of recent incidents of theft and intrusion. While we strongly desire to be open, friendly, and welcoming to all people, of great loving concern to us is the security of staff and all others who are in our building.
Session has authorized extending the hours of our Back Door Greeter/Office Assistant position (up to 40 hours per week) to provide a welcoming and discerning presence at our busiest entrance; and thereby, to minimize the intrusion upon other office and custodial staff who would attend to the door by default if no one is present. We recognize this shift in practice may seem a bit harsh relative to the accustomed experience for our members. We will work to minimize the hassle and feeling of this additional "barrier" to entrance.
We invite your reflection on this change in our procedure. Please, contact Seth, Ann, Mike, or Shawn with any thoughts or concerns. Thank you, in advance for your support in preserving and enhancing our life together in God's love.
